The War On Drugs
A 2012 preview…
Their performance of “Come to the City” on David Letterman (click above to watch it!), clinched it for me. I am PSCYCHED to see The War on Drugs at Lollapalooza! This Philadelphia group combines blue-collar visions and personal ponderings with an ethereal shuffle that is just infectious. There’s more than a hint of Springsteen in the song “Baby Missiles” and others. Although front-man Adam Granduciel attracts comparisons to the Boss as well as Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, you could also say he’s got the energy and earnestness of Jim James from My Morning Jacket.
Slave Ambient, The War on Drugs second full-length album, is a road-trip staple for me.
